This brief discusses the growing number of forces at the national and regional levels which are driving the “value proposition” for implementing the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Clinician & Group Survey. Patients are the best source of information about their experiences in the doctor’s office, and using patient surveys allows the measurement of whether care is patient-centered, one of six essential aims for achieving high-quality health care, according to the Institute of Medicine.
